Language skills are important for kids to communicate effectively with their peers and family members. Language skills are typically assessed in two domains: receptive language and expressive language. Receptive language is the understanding of spoken language and expressive language is spoken language or output of communication.
Children with a receptive language delay may present with difficulty following directions, answering questions, and/or identifying items and actions. A child with an expressive language delay may not be meeting the developmental milestone of producing single words, combining words or producing sentences.
Our speech pathologists specialize in early intervention speech therapy with the birth-to-five population. Our pediatric therapists primarily see kids with limited expressive vocabularies, young children with suspected or diagnosed autism spectrum disorder, and children with attention difficulties.
We have pediatric speech pathologists that can provide speech and language evaluations and treatment in English and/or Spanish.
